Sorry, but postponement is forced upon me!
The cold weather lately has slowed the balsam’s growth so that much of it is still hidden in the nettles, which have carried on growing. Also, someone has taken a mower along the lower bank and cut the tops off the balsam, so it will inevitably grow back. We’ll try again later.
I will do a recce on Sunday down by Yearsley Baths, ready for the Tuesday evening session, but Good Gym were out pulling last Monday and will have dealt with much of it. It was also horribly muddy and very slippery on the path. I’ll look further downstream below the old railway bridge and see whether that has grown enough to be pulled.
There is plenty to be going on with up at Strensall though; John Millett has three sessions there, one this evening weather permitting, and two next week on the 18th and 19th.
